Lecturer - Occupational Therapy

Eastern Washington University and the Department of Occupational Therapy invite applications for an individual to serve as Lecturer. Start date for this position is August 1, 2018. The position is a full-time Lecturer in Occupational Therapy. The Lecturer is a standard 9-month faculty appointment from mid-August to mid-May. The Lecturer position will carry a full-time teaching load of 30 contact hours per year. Current needs are in the areas of physical disabilities, applied neurology, occupational performance and mental health, and occupational performance in older adults. Additionally, all faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective teaching. Conditions of Employment There may be opportunities for a summer teaching contract. Faculty benefits will continue through the summer whether or not a summer teaching appointment is available, as long as the candidate hired for the position is reappointed for academic year 2019-20.


Required Qualifications:
• Degree in Occupational Therapy and a Master's degree by start date
• Minimum of four years of clinical experience in one or more of the following practice areas: physical disabilities, gerontology and/or mental health
• Previous experience lecturing in an OT/OTA program in some capacity
• Experience working with inter-professional colleagues
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Washington
• Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills as reported by professional peers
• Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff and the public


Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree in occupational therapy AND evidence of completion of coursework towards one of the following:
• Doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field OR
• Evidence of completion of AOTA Board or Specialty Certification such as Gerontology, Physical Rehabilitation, Environmental Modification, or other certification such as Certified Hand Therapist
• Knowledge of local practice community
• Five or more years of clinical experience in a variety of practice areas including physical disabilities and/or mental health
• One or more years of teaching experience in an OT/OTA program, with a focus on physical disabilities and/or mental health
• Experience in an administrative position within healthcare
• Evidence of course development experience within an academic or clinical setting
